Dr. Stephen Burnie
Dr. Burnie received his undergraduate training at McMaster University in 2001, where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree double majoring in Biology and Psychology. He completed 4 years of chiropractic training at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 2005 where he served as the President of the Student Canadian Chiropractic Association and as the Ontario Chiropractic Association student representative. In addition to chiropractic training, Dr. Burnie became certified in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada in 2005 and completed his Fellowship in Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University in 2009.

After starting clinical practice, he enrolled in the Masters in Rehabilitation Science program at McMaster University where he completed several research projects examining treatments for neck pain. For his research and academic accomplishments, he was awarded the titles "Strategic Training Fellow in Rehabilitation Research" by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and “Research Fellow” by the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER). Since graduating with his Master’s degree, Dr. Burnie has continued to work with a research team at McMaster. He currently leads a multidisciplinary team that makes recommendations to chiropractors, physiotherapists, and physicians about the most effective treatments for neck pain. Dr. Burnie completed training through the Robert M. Palmer Institute of Biomechanics in 2008 and subsequently achieved his credentials as a Certified Pedorthist (CPed) from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics. Pedorthists are health practitioners that specialize in foot orthotics, braces, and shoe modifications for the correction of lower limb dysfunctions.

Dr. Burnie practices in a multidisciplinary clinic with family doctors in the Yonge and Davisville area of Toronto. He has extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions, including back and neck pain, injuries from auto accidents, sports injuries, headaches, and work-related injuries. Dr. Burnie also makes custom orthotics which are useful for treating many conditions, including foot and ankle pain, knee pain, hip pain, and low back pain. Dr. Burnie attends a wide variety of chiropractic and medical continuing education seminars to learn about the latest developments in treatment strategies. He is also a part-time faculty member at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where he supervises clinical interns treating patients at student clinics in Toronto.

Dr. Burnie is an active member of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Ontario Chiropractic Association, the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association, the Canadian Academy of Medical Acupuncture, and the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics.
